After reading this week’s chapter, I find myself wondering how I can make my lessons more engaging? Not just for the behavior side, but also the learning side. It is something that I struggle with. With so little time to plan, it is hard for me to come up with creative things to do throughout the whole unit. I am excited if I can get one activity or instruction that is not the typical lecture and write or lecture then do. I always want for my students to be intrigued in what I was teaching as much as I was intrigued about teaching it. This week’s reading also made me focus on some of the behaviors I see in my class. I often see my students having side conversations, staring off into space, and if they are not in my proximity then will tend to draw and doodle. These students are not interested and I often have to spend some of the instruction time to get them back on track. Sometimes that can mean several redirects.
