Entry #6

This week's concept was something that I can relate too! There are so many activities and lessons that I would love to do with my students but because it is not pertaining to a standard, it is looked at as a waste of time. I struggle a lot with shaping my lessons into something students would enjoy. I realize that there is a goal that needs to be met, so that is why I want to find a way to do both!

Because I want my lessons to have a driven goal, I am seeking ways to keep both components in my classroom. I would like to have time where the students are doing lessons of interest, while also working to master other skills that they will need for testing.

Moving forward, I am going to look at the instructional objectives for each standard, so that I am focused on what the students need to know in order to master standards. From there, I would map out ways to incorporate small interesting activities that relate to the standard. I want my students to enjoy learning while also reaching mastery goals.
